14" crappie like the one on the right are not
uncommon.

Of course a few 17" pop up here and there!
The waters of Houston county lake
come form Little Elkhart creek.
It is not fed by the nearby Trinity
river at all.

Many enjoy the springs which help
feed the lake and keep it cool in all
but the driest years.

Fishing magazines list the water
quality as clear to slightly stained
Many fishing experts believe the
next State record Bass may well
come out of Houston County Lake.

There are two uninhabited islands
within easy paddle distance.

Just under 1/2 of the Lake is
suitable for recreational boating
purposes.
